01 / About
A practical approach to public markets.
Fortacin Company Limited (科他信有限公司) was incorporated in Hong Kong in 2019. Its earlier work included technology and data projects. The company now focuses on proprietary public-market research and trading.
Our approach combines company analysis, market judgement and data-supported research. We consider the investment thesis, valuation, liquidity and downside risk before taking or changing a position.
Our approach
Start with a clear thesis. Test it against available evidence. Define the risk. Reassess when the facts change.— Fortacin research process
02 / Process
How research becomes a decision
A simple process designed to keep the thesis, evidence and risk visible.
Form a question
Research may begin with a company development, valuation gap, market event or broader theme. The first task is to state clearly what may be misunderstood or changing.
Check the evidence
We review public filings, company information, market data and relevant news. Assumptions are compared with alternative explanations and information that may contradict the thesis.
Define the trade-off
A decision considers expected upside, downside, liquidity, timing and position size. A good idea is not automatically a good position at every price.
Reassess the thesis
Positions are reviewed as prices, company information and market conditions change. The original thesis and risk assumptions provide the basis for holding, adjusting or exiting.
03 / Focus
Markets we study
Our current research focus is listed equities, particularly Hong Kong and US markets. Macro, rates and currencies are considered as market context.
Hong Kong equities
Research on selected Hong Kong-listed companies, sectors and market developments using public company information and market data.
US equities
Research on selected US-listed companies and themes where public information supports a clear, testable investment thesis.
Market context
Macroeconomic conditions, interest rates, currencies and cross-asset movements are considered where they affect company fundamentals, valuation or market risk.
These descriptions are general and do not disclose current positions or constitute investment recommendations.
04 / Principles
Principles for making decisions
State the thesis
A position should have a clear reason, relevant evidence and identifiable conditions that could prove the view wrong.
Check the evidence
Company information, market data and contrary evidence are considered together. Confidence should change when the evidence changes.
Define downside
Potential loss, liquidity and adverse scenarios are part of the decision—not an afterthought once a position has been established.
Review and adapt
A decision can be reasonable and still turn out wrong. Positions should be reassessed when facts, price or market conditions change.
